This is a long time coming. After years of decorating, renovating, redecorating, DIY’ing, stalking blogs, taking house tours, clipping articles from magazine, pinning, et cetera, I finally decided to start a blog of my own. What inspired it? An unloved 1955 mid-century modern rancher in the California desert. Let’s call it the Wayfair House.
The Wayfair has horrible carpets, a terrible color scheme, an old kitchen, and a hideous bathroom. But, it has an amazingly huge yard, southern exposure, incredible groves of majestic palm trees and a great pool. It just needs some love!
We bought the house in January, and I am hoping to put years of love for the California Mid-Century Modern aesthetic into the house. Though we live full time in a craftsman bungalow, I grew up in a mid century modern house, and I can’t wait to bring this house alive.
I’m hoping to share what works, what doesn’t, and anything else useful I stumble into along the way. Please feel free to ask questions or leave comments.
Thanks!
